Sanderson is situated in the heart of London’s West End, offers a retreat from the bustle of the city into a world of fantasy and well-being. The landmarked 1950s building has been transformed by Philippe Starck into a surreal Cocteau-like dream world, epitomising a new luxury that is smart, pared-down and tempered with a healthy dose of wit and irony. With newly renovated rooms concepted by designer Tim Andreas of Banjo, the rooms maintain their sense of whimsy while offering state of the art details and luxurious touches at every turn.
What is also great to know is that the hotel is situated only 5min walk from the well known Oxford Circus station or Tottenham Court Road.
As London Fashion Week being held that week I have chosen to shoot one of my outfits in their wonderful Courtyard Garden - a lush open-air oasis brimming with flowering trees, fountain, mosaics and a reflecting pool.
The Garden of Live Flowers at Sanderson transports guests into a dreamlike, whimsical world with its fragrant creeping jasmine creating a sensory experience, filling the air with smells of summer. The show-stopping element is a one-of-a-kind, living tree positioned by a beautifully decadent table immersed in giant plants and grasses. An air of intrigue and mystery hangs in this overgrown wonderland world.
I was lucky enough to be given the “Deluxe” room, which imaginatively blurs the line between baroque and modern, extravagance and simplicity.
Every detail embodies thoughtful luxury, including 300 thread count cotton linens and sumptuous bath products.
I realized that one of the other aspects of the room, which really stand out compare to other hotels is that they have a luxury set of weights placed on a mirror metal stand attached to the wall so you could also work out. How cool is that.
I must say the the standards were very high in terms of service and regular cleaning.
At some 80-feet in length, Sanderson’s dramatic, glowing onyx Long Bar is the focal point for energy at Sanderson. The Long Bar has been remodelled with nature in mind, to become The Bar of Nature, dripping with climbing vines and hanging plants. Leading cocktail maestro, Stuart Bale, who has experience working across several of the capital’s most highly acclaimed bars, has devised a delectable new drinks menu. The concept for the drinks, ‘Not as Nature Intended’, is an exploration of the beauty of nature and how we can play with it and alter it to suit our needs.
As you know most hotels offer you the possibility of room service but I decided to go downstairs and enjoy the full breakfast experience with a view.
The breakfast was served in their restaurant with the view of the beautiful courtyard garden, which was absolutely stunning and creates a peaceful environment.
They offered a quite tasteful and fresh buffet, as well as the possibility to order between some delicious dishes from their menu.
This modern restaurant serves a seasonal menu focusing on British cousins with a continental influence.
I must admit the service was of high quality with a highly attentive staff, one might say top notch.
